Ma Talay, Phang Nga

The tall woven bamboo gable is the hero of this project, so the lighting brief had exactly one goal: keep it the hero after dark too.

We placed uplights at the base of each column so the light climbs the structure, casting a pattern of shadow across the roof that reads from both inside and outside.

• Structure lit from below to build depth and shadow
• Table light kept right for dining without washing out the atmosphere
• Equipment rated for salt air and sand on a beachfront site
