Rin at Raintree Bangkok

This project put a great deal of weight on the sequence of arrival — from the entrance, through the garden, into the interior lobby.

Light levels were set to change gradually so the eye adjusts on its own without a jolt, which makes the whole place read as calmer at night.

• In-ground uplights and tree lighting setting a rhythm along the walk
• Timber and stone grazed at an angle to reveal their texture
• Spill light controlled so it never reaches the ground-floor rooms
